Bob Selby's Road To Sight

My name is Shannon Selby & with the help of my family, we are raising funds to cover the cost for the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System for my father Bob Selby.

My dad gradually lost his sight as a young adult, but now has the opportunity to regain visual perception with a retinal implant. With this implant, he would be able to see shapes of doorways, his plate on a table & a person standing directly in-front of him. My dad would be just one of 40 people in the whole world to receive this surgery which was approved by the FDA in 2013. This is monumental!

The surgery is set for October 25th in Chicago, IL. He will need funds to travel to Chicago from St. Louis, along with around $2,500 to live in Chicago for a month after surgery to recover & to learn how to use the equipment. He also will need funds for the cost of batteries to power the mini computer system that processes the video sent from the camera in his glasses. Based on these impending costs, any size donation will make a big difference.

This means the world to me, my daughter Lily & my brothers Bobby & Brenden. It equals a whole new life for my dad.
