Steve's Battle with Cancer & Burial

Donation protected
Steve Slater, best described as a father, brother, uncle, son, friend. A man who loves his family and would do anything for anyone even if it meant that he went without. Steve has been battling lung cancer, and uterine carcinoma cancer for several years now. Within the past year or so Steve has undergone several surgeries including removing two thirds of one of his lungs. This surgery resulted in a blood infection called sepsis. He was on life support and battling for his life. His life flashing before our eyes. The percentage of survival was slim to none, but Steve fought extremely hard and beat the odds. After weeks of hospitalization and several months rehabilitation. Steve came home. He was blessed enough to be able to move in with his brother and best friend Dan, and sister in law Sherrie. They've helped support him on many different levels. He was so grateful. As he continued his journey of battling cancer. He went through multiple rounds of radiation and chemo therapy, as the two cancers he had were very different. One was very aggressive and rare, which is known as uterine carcinoma. The cancer in his bladder become very painful so they went on and made the decision to have his bladder removed roughly 3 months ago or so. The Doctors were very clear that this cancer was aggressive and even after removing his bladder there was a very high chance that this will continue to spread. About a month after bladder removal Steve's pain never really went away, and he had began experiencing severe lower back pain, making it painful in any position. Less than 60 days after surgery Steve had finally reached out to his doctors as his back pain was becoming debilitating, he couldn't get comfortable and wasn't sleeping. He reached out to his physician who ordered an MRI of his lower back. He completed his MRI of his lower back on Sunday. Tuesday he went to his oncologist who revealed the MRI results and gave him the devastating news that the uterine carcinoma has spread to his bones. He was admitted to inpatient to conquer pain management and determine a plan. After over a week stay lots of tests, and consultations it had been determined the cancer was spreading rapidly, non-treatable, and he was not a candidate for surgery. We were told he was terminal. We were lucky enough to have some difficult conversations that no family member wants to have. Steve expressed his wishes of wanting to be buried. Our family wants to do anything we can to make that a reality for him. During a extremely difficult time already for our entire family, we now financially have to try and make one of his final wishes become a reality.

Steve decided and agreed to go into the care of Hospice. An overwhelming decision that we all knew would be best. A week or so ago Steve was placed into a nursing home under the care of hospice. Just now, a week later yesterday, it's become a reality that Steve's body is preparing to enter the ultimate paradise, the golden gates, heaven. Where he knows his savior, Jesus Christ will be standing at the gates awaiting and welcoming his arrival. He is ready to be pain free, and live eternity with our god.

Steve was not a wealthy man and has very little assets to help offset the cost of his funeral. Our family would be so incredibly grateful if anyone would be willing to donate money, $1, $5, $20, anything at all would be something our family would be forever grateful for. Being able to Financially get through this devastating time and fulfil Steve's wishes .

If you can't donate, please share for our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every dollar, share, or even just thinking about our family through this trying time. ❤❤❤
