Let Me Run! Washington D.C.

Let Me Run is a seven-week running program for young boys that teaches values such as respect, confidence, teamwork, and health, all while training for a 5k race.  Throughout the seven-week program the boys engage in long-distance running, trail running, high intensity interval training, aerobic excercises and strength work-outs.  They also participate in activities that promote health and well-being, such as nutritional lessons and confidence boosting excercises.  The program culminates with a 5k race which serves both as a test and a celebration of the physical, emotional, and mental fitness that the boys have achieved.

The cost of this program is $135 per boy, which pays for the cost of the program and the 5k race registration fee.  The program fee pays for the training of the coaches, coaching support, t-shirts, program supplies, and medals.  Our boys will be participating in the Jingle All The Way 5k race on Sunday December 4th, which has a $35 registration fee.

Our boys come from many diverse backgrounds, including recent immigrants, lifelong DC residents and even families of foreign diplomats.  Our coaches, Mr. Jimenez and Mr. Lopez, are both men of color who work in education and have gladly volunteered to run the program.  Our team is truly representative of our beautiful, cosmopolitan city.  

Unfortunately, the program cost will be a financial burden for many of our boys who come from underprivilaged families.  Our goal is to fully fund our team so that everyone can benefit from this amazing program.  No donation is too small; our team stands to benefit enormously from even the smallest gifts of generosity.  Please consider supporting our young runners!!
