Saving Our Neighborhood Stray Cats

Donation protected

This big, beautiful orange & white cat is Bob. Our vet calls him Big Sexy Bob. He's sweet and very gentle. When we moved into our current apartment, Bob was a fixture in the neighborhood but lived on the streets. We slowly befriended Bob and soon he was spending time in our home. After a month or so, he began to spend nights sleeping on the end of our bed. Bob liked that he had easy access to a window. We're on the street level so he felt he could leave anytime. Today, Bob spends most of his time sleeping on our bed! He's very healthy aside from a terrible problem with ear mites and fleas that require constant vet visits. As you can imagine, this adds up. Bob also had to have a polyp removed from his throat 6 months after we met him. It was constricting his breathing and impacting the quality of his life. We hope it doesn't grow back!

Every cat has its needs: food, shelter, love and health care.We are working hard to help the stray and homeless cats in our neighborhood get the food, shelter, love and medical care they need and find them a good home to live in for the rest of their lives. With your help we can, hopefully, get theses cats and/or others like them whatever they need for a good, happy life.

The adorable kitten in the photo above is Wally. He, his brothers Percy and Franklin and sister, Lola were born under our bed after we rescued their mom, Betsy. Betsy was pregnant and stuck in a tree across from our apartment. Wally and his siblings lived with us for 4 months. Betsy nursed them, weaned theem, taught them to eat cat food, managed their play and bed times and then let them be on their own. We took them to the vet and then found wonderful homes for three of them. Lola, the independent female remained with us. We were worried when her brothers left she would be lonely despite our many other cats. But Lola's personality blossomed! Sadly, a few weeks later their mom, Betsy, died of an unforseen heart ailment. That's one of the pains of rescuing homeless and stray cats among the many pleasures.

The sweet white, cat below, with the big, blue eyes, is Moses. We named him Cassy because he's so pretty but when he trusted us enough to let us get close, we discovered he had to be renamed! Moses appeared at our door one night around dinner. He looked a little worse for wear & was hungry. We fed him & tried to coax him inside. Moses made us work with him on his terms as many strays do. A lot of them don't trust people & it take time and patience to build up a relationship. Moses was a fixture in our household within 2 weeks. That's pretty quick. Once he trusted us, he was affectionate, playful & fun. It didn't take us long to find him a wonderful forever home...though it was tough to say good-bye to Moses.

We feed, shelter & rescue cats and need your help to continue to provide food, shelter and medical care for these unfortunates. We've saved dozens over the years, either taking them in as our own or finding them good loving homes. Right now ten cats, all rescued from the street, are "ours" most awaiting their forever home.  Those cats who've lived their lives on the street & don't want a home, we feed and get them vet care.
We live in a neighborhood where the economy has hit hard and many families abandon their cats when they can no longer afford to keep them. This has made our mission clear: to do what we can to rescue as many of these innocent victims as possible. We are Amy & Scott and have been married for over a decade & helping cats for even longer. There are so many out there that need care. This is why we are turning to you and we thank you for your help. We wouldn't ask if we didn't need it and please know it's not for us, it's for the "fuzzy wuzzies".
