Jacob Gurganus was involved in a terrible motor vehicle accident. The vehicle he was in suffered a catastrophic left front tire failure that caused the truck veer into the direct path of another vehicle. The two vehicles collided head on. Jacob is stable but in critial condition and has many surgeries to come. So far he has had a neck surgery where they removed his C6 and a temporary plate in his jaw. He is scheduled for a tracheostomy and feeding tube on Thursday and another surgery on his jaw on Friday. His jaw will have to be wired shut for about 6 weeks . He has to have another surgery on his neck as well as his collar bone will need plates and screws and surgery on his arm. Other surgeries are expected but these will be the first of many. I will update as I can.
I started the fundraising page on behalf of Jacob and his family. I have no idea what the medical expenses will be for Jacob's recovery and care, not to mention the emotional trauma of enduring such a horrific crash. The initial expenses I anticipate are travel costs for his parents to be with him, as well as potential loss of work as a result of this incident, and medical costs will follow.
I've chosen an arbitrary amount as the goal because it is required in order to create a fundraising page, but any amount at all is hugely appreciated.
