Send Ed to Pearl Harbor

Rolla Edward "Ed" malan, is 96 years old. He was a naval Machinist Mate during WWII, stationed at Pearl Harbor.  Fortunately, Ed survived the attack and is still active despite his years.  Interestingly, Ed's birthday is 4th of July!  I first met him when he came to my studio for a painting class, and as I got to know him we became fast friends. I've pretty much adopted him as a grandafther. He is kind, considerate, and a funny guy.  He's become a local "human interest story", and was interviewed for our local TV station (see it here: http://abc22now.com/news/local/pearl-harbor-survivor-looking-to-go-back-for-75th-anniversary-of-attack).  I've been able to take him out on an Honor Flight to DC to visit the WWII memorial, and have taken him on a few road trips to visit interesting places.  Now, I want to be able to take him to Pearl Harbor for the 75th anniversary.  We are hoping to go in September if we can raise the money.  We have done a few local fund raising events, but it still isn't enough. Ed requires a nurse to accompany us, and we have a volunteer. Our Navy contacts in Hawaii have been helpful too. We would be eternally grateful to anyone who can help make this a true "dream come true" for Ed.  Any funds in excess of what we need will be donated to the local chapter of Honor Flight, who takes members of the Greatest Generation to Washington DC to see the memorials.
