We are now just hoping we can give him the help he needs to be able to live as normal a life as he deserves.  Please, help us save our dog.

Hi everyone who is following Abe! Just wanted to send a quick update after the chaos has settled a little bit. Abe is stable on his phenobarbital. We saw the neurologist last week, who was pleasantly surprised, for blood testing to verify his organs are tolerating the meds, and mostly all is good! They did detect elevated levels of two types of cells, indicating a possible parasite or food allergy. We have ruled out parasites, and are currently undergoing a diet change to a novel protein. Unknown whether this is related to the seizures or coincidental, but for now, who cares. Our boy is happy, energetic, playful, social, and thankful to all of you who have supported him!

It is back to training, no matter what our final prognosis is! Last night's tasks were waiting for treats balanced on his paws, and catching dropped treats with his mouth. He is a quick learner! And continuing to regain his physical and mental stamina.

The question still remains as to what caused this whole event. Remaining causes are brain related. We are now considering getting an MRI to rule these in or out. If anyone has recommendations for how to shop around for this, please reach out. Love to you all, from the Lincolns!

Another hurdle down today. Titers blood tests came back negative, ruling out infectious, fungal, parasitic and tick. Abe is doing well, his personality is slowly coming back and he's is starting to regain some energy. We are on to weaning him off the steroids and hope for an uneventful next few days! We are so grateful for all of you who are cheering Abe on and giving us the reassurance and assistance to get us through this. You all really are amazing people!

Another good* day over here with Abe. We got to bring him home this afternoon after he made it 24 hrs without a seizure! We are still working with the unknown but we are so happy to have him back in a comfortable place. I can't imagine what the last few days have been like for him. We are waiting on blood test results (friday or monday) to rule out infectious diseases. We will slowly reduce his prednisone over the next week with the hope we do not have any recurrences. Abe was badly in need of a toothbrush and a bath, which we promptly got in once home. Cautiously optimistic family over here.
