Helping Austin Tighe with recovery

Donation protected
On Saturday, September 10, 2016 My daughter Stormy Kyann Orange's boyfriend Austin J. Tighe 24 years old, had a horrendous accident while working. He is a tree man (climbs and cuts) for a living. He has done this ever since he first started learning over 5 years go.
He was running the wood chipper this past Saturday and his work boot strings got hung on a big limb that was headed into the wood chipper. His right leg, up to his thigh was shredded and promptly removed by the wood chipper.
My daughter and the guys he works with, witnessed this horrific event unfold. Kenny, a friend he works with grabbed Austin and pulled him out of the chipper before it took the rest of him in. He was rushed by Ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was placed immediately in surgery. Nobody knew if he would make it or not, there was such a tremendous amount of blood loss. The Trauma team at SNGH did save his life in the operating room. He will be in the hospital in the 6th floor trauma ward for more than a month. He has already endured his 3rd surgery as of Tuesday, September 13, 2016.  He has several more surgeries to endure.
Austin has no medical insurance and now cannot work doing what he loves to do.
There will be months and months of recovery.
Austin is a wonderful young man, he worked hard everyday until this happened. He resides with my daughter in our home in Chesapeake, VA. He is a wonderful person, son, boyfriend, father and friend!!!
I don't want him or her to be worried about the hosptial bills, the medicine costs, living expenses etc. Once he is released from the hospital. Stormy has not left his side for more than 2 hours since the accident. She sleeps in the room or in the bed beside him every night since being there. He is never alone in the hospital room, if she steps out, I am in there with him. If there is somewhere she needs to go, we make sure there are more than one of Austins, friends and or family members are in there with him until she returns.
Austin deserves to live a long normal as possible life from here on out. We will do whatever we need to do to make sure he can focus completely on his recovery and not have to worry about his bills, where he is going to come up with his child support payments and  or anything negative. We are trying to keep this as positive as we can! He really is a good man and he tries very hard to treat people the way he would want to be treated. Please do what you can to help Austin recover with as little worries as possible. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for reading his story!! With Love and Hugs, Gerri Stemm Orange!!
