Nine years ago Sebastian was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease (an Infammitory Bowl Disorder, similar to Colitis, which causes a malfuntion of the immune system) and he has been in and out of the hospital ever since. He has been on every drug known to work at some level or another and they have all failed him in the end. He has now graduated to whatever may come down down the pharmacuetical pipe line next. Thank goodness, at this moment, there is one more powerful (expensive and dangerous in itself) biologic just approved by the FDA: Stelara.
Despite the constant tweaking of the drugs in various combinations (and with such antidotal suppliments in quantities unimaginable) Sebastian is about to enter his third surgery to remove possibly not one but two sections of his problematic colon. The last six months have been a slow living hell for my boy. After surgeons botched the first surgery, causing a painful stricture and fistula, as well as slow healing process, and temporary ostomy bag, my boy has understandable stress from the previous trauma going into the next surgery.
Sebastian and I are trying to raise funds to cover the costs for the current treatments. Even with insurance coverage , paying these enormous medical bills is out of my reach, not to mention the cost of time for treatments and doctors visits (of which there are many, as the disease affects not only his intestines, but his skin, eyes, and joints as well). This all takes away from my ability to work and I am drowning in medical debt. We need your help. Please say a prayer.
Sebastian and I are knocking at your door for financial support. Any amount you can give us will greatly contribute to the continued management of his chronic illness and hopefully his cure.
