Kentucky Kernel legal fund
To fight the lawsuit filed by the University of Kentucky against its independent student newspaper, the Kernel staff is asking for your help.
Money donated to this account will be used to pay for the hard out-of-pocket costs that are likely to arise during litigation.
Any unused funds will be placed in a fund dedicated to future open records and open meetings issues at the Kernel, an indpendent 501c(3) nonprofit.
The lawsuit is a move to hide records that detail allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault by a faculty member. The Kernel believes students have a right to see those documents.
But fighting this lawsuit will take an amount of money the Kernel can not afford on its own.
The Kernel staff needs your help. University administrators must not be allowed to hide public records simply because they have the most money in the game. The university will likely spend thousands of tax and tuition dollars fighting this case.
Help us keep UK accountable to its students and to the citizens of Kentucky.

Don't take shit from these thugs. Good luck. And keep shining that light. An educational institution that is supposed to be teaching students to be good citizens, violating the Kentucky attorney general and then trying to pick on its own student paper! Total morons and thugs.
I'm a senior at STEAM and this news made it all the way here. #fightthegoodfight
