On Sunday September 4, 2016 Dan Batista was enjoying Labor Day Weekend in LeRaysville Pennsylvania with his Fiance and another couple when his life was forever changed. After a great night of riding with his buddy they headed back to get ready for the fireworks with the girls. After taking a wrong turn he was flown off the quad into a ditch, which was mostly rocks. He suffered multiple facial fractures, a broken skull with a blood clot on his brain, a broken neck and spinal cord injuries. He was air lifted to the Robert Packer ICU in Sayre, Pennsylvania where he was put on a ventilator and had two surgeries to repair the damage to his skull and stabilize his neck. Due to the spinal cord injuries he was given a 2-3% chance of walking again. He has a long road to recovery and will need to go to a rehab facility specializing in spinal cord injuries. He will have some hefty medical bills and his home will need to be modified to accommodate him when he returns. Dan lives in Winchester CT.  he grew up riding quads, dirtbikes and bmx. He loves the outdoors and he is determined to get his life back and do all of the things he has always done. Our goal for him and his family is to take off some of the burden and make his home as comfortable as possible for him and we need your help to make sure this happens.  Please consider making a donation to help him on his road to recovery. All donations will be helpful and very much appreciated by him and his family to help get him through this! I added Luis Batista, Dan's Father, as the beneficiary, he'll be withdrawing the money on Dan's behalf, when they are ready. Please like and follow Dan's Journey at:  https://www.facebook.com/DansFightRecoveringFromSpinalCordInjury/ His mother created this page for him and she updates it daily with photos, videos and a description of how his day went.  Thank you all for your love and support, please keep praying!

It's been over 4 months since Dan's accident and I just wanted to fill you you on where he is. Dan felt that Gaylord wasn't what he needed to succeed. He transferred care to The Hospital for Special Care and is hoping for the best care he can get. He is determined to get his hands functioning and is keeping faith to be able to walk again. He still has a very long road ahead of him but praying he keeps up the positivity to be able to accomplish his dreams. We are all very positive that this will be a good fit for him and we will see some improvement in the months ahead. I just wanted to remind everyone that shirts and bracelets have been made to support Dan's Fight, If you or anyone you know is interested in purchasing any please let us know. T's are $20 and bracelets are $5. As always Thank you for your love and support for Dan and the family and your continued prayers.

Day 37: Turbo, Dan's puppy, has been registered as a Service Dog and has been able to visit him, which is so wonderful. Dan has been working so hard at his therapy sessions and his tentative release date is November 4th. He has been dealing with low blood pressure and nausea at times which prevents him from doing his sessions but when he can he does amazing. We are all so proud of him. Construction is underway at the Batista household. My husband started the concrete patio in the back which leads to his bedroom. Lowes generously donated the doors that they need which will be installed so that he can enter hassle free with his wheelchair. Big thing is the driveway needs paving, the rain water washes the driveway out and during winter fills with Ice. If any of you know wanyone who paves drieways and they would like donate their services or give them a good deal, please let either Misty or Louie know asap, They are concerned if an emergency arises in the winter where an ambulance would be needed. Thank you all for your continued love and support for Dan and his family. Keep praying! Here is the most recent post from Dan's Mom: Poor Danny can't catch a break. He was not feeling well this morning, he had nausea and vomiting. They did blood work and a urine culture, think it may be another UTI. He didn't end up having his scans or any therapy today. Hopefully they will do the scans tomorrow so the can send them to Yale for his appointment Wednesday. He spent the day in bed but he did call excited that Doug Henrey called him tonight and he is going to try to visit him! He was one of Dan's idols for a long time but more so now since the accident. He's been watching his videos and has hope to be able to go riding again!!! I am hoping he has a better day tomorrow. Wake Up. Kick Ass. Repeat. Let's do this Dan!
