Help Clarence Rebuild!

Donation protected
Clarence Fountain, a founding member and the long-time leader of the Blind Boys of Alabama, is going through a hard time. Clarence stopped touring with the band a few years back due to complications from diabetes, and moved to Louisiana. A few weeks ago, Clarence’s house (pictured below) was a victim of the historic flooding in Baton Rouge. This forced him and his wife Barbara out of the house, first staying at a hotel and then with relatives. Just last week, Clarence was admitted to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital due to further health problems.

Today, we ask you to donate in order to help our dear friend and musical partner, Clarence Fountain, rebuild his home and cover his living and medical expenses. In addition, a portion of your donation will be directed to Clarence’s church, Promised Land Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Seventy five (75) percent of the funds raised through this campaign will go to help Clarence and twenty five (25) percent of the funds will go to his church in order to provide assistance to other patrons of the congregation in need.

No matter how small your donation may seem, remember these victims are incredibly grateful for any amount you’re able to put forth. Your donation can help rebuild Clarence’s life and the life of this community.

The goal is set at $10,000 and, with your support, there is no doubt we can achieve it! Please donate and share this GoFundMe on your social media accounts and let’s help Clarence and the families suffering in Louisiana! Whether you choose to make a donation or not, please remember Clarence and his community in your prayers - that would be a gift in and of itself.

Please note that Clarence and his wife Barbara do have insurance on their house. However, since they are not in a flood zone, they do not have flood insurance and their insurance company will not pay for any of their damages.

This campaign is sponsored by the Blind Boys of Alabama and all monies will be handled through the escrow account of their attorney/manager. 100% of all funds collected will be dispersed to the intended recipients.
