Boerne Village Band Germany Trip

Donation protected
The Boerne Village Band was established in 1860 and has the distinction of being the "oldest continuously performing German band in the world, outside of Germany". In 1991 the Texas legislature honored the Band for "keeping alive German music as part of our heritage"; and in 1996 Germany's most distinguished award for folk music, the Pro Musica Plakette, was awarded to the Band by German President, Roman Herzog. Additionally, the 150th and 155th anniversaries of the Band were recognized with official proclamations from the City of Boerne, and the Band has received community awards from the Boerne Area Historical Preservation Society, the City of Boerne, Kendall County, and the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce. The Band is an organization in which the citizens of Boerne should take pride.

The Band has been invited by its Sister Band in Runkel-Schadek, Germany to conduct a multi-city concert tour in July 2017. The Band's last German concert was in 2003, and the Band members would be thrilled and honored to once again represent our community of Boerne, the State of Texas, and the United States of America, by performing this concert tour in the country that gave us so much of our local heritage.

The cost of the tour will be expensive and the Band needs your help in covering the airfare costs for approximately 20 musicians which is estimated to be in the range of $30,000. All other costs will be paid by the Band's members. Any contribution you can provide to help make this trip a reality will be greatly appreciated.
