I am Laurie Burnett and have had the honor of being Cara's aunt for 28 years.  Cara gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on August 13, 2016.  Baby Lexi came 6 weeks early but was absolutely healthy.  Lexi's beautiful mommy Cara, had many, many complications.  Cara developed preeclampsia and while she, her loving husband and the doctors worked so hard to save her and her baby, Cara's condition grew steadily worse. Cara went through many medical tests and then the doctors found a mass in her chest that was pressing on her trachea and spine.   The goal was to stabilize Cara and remove this mass in the middle of September.  She had no choice, it had to come out.  Cara was finally released from the hospital to go home and try to have some "normal" bonding time with her beautiful baby girl before she was to come back for the surgery.  However, on Friday, September 2, while sitting at her dining room table, Cara suffered a significant stroke.  She was flown by helicopter to Albany Medical Center.  Cara was paralyzed on her left side but no one gave up hope. Cara's sweet, loving husband and parents stayed by her day and night while doctors worked to save her and all of her family members prayed and never gave up hope. Cara had to have emergency surgery to remove fluid on her brain as a result of the stroke.  Cara, bless her heart, never recovered from that surgery and gained her Angel Wings on September 6.  Cara had been a healthy, vibrant, loving 30 year old woman that wanted to be married and be a mommy.  Cara was a teacher and had loved children her entire life.  Cara had a smile that would light up an entire room.  She was so thoughtful and kind, never forgetting a family member or friends birthday no matter how far away they lived.  She lived to bring kindness and joy to her family, friends, the children she taught and to anyone that was near her. This campaign is to help her family pay for her extensive medical bills, her funeral and to set up a college fund for baby Lexi.  Cara's family and husband are the kindest, most giving people and myself and Cara's other aunts and uncles want to help them in every way we can.  This is a loss that will never go away, but we can help relieve this unexpected financial burden and support baby Lexi by starting a college fund.  No donation is to small, no kind words will be forgotten.  We thank you for reading about Cara and for any gift you can give.  Thank you!
