Hello, My name is Anthony Portsmouth and thank you so much for
taking the time to view this page. It'll
only take 2 minutes, so hopefully you can spare that out of your day.
For the past 8 years, I have dedicated my life and work to the performing arts. At the age of 15, Acting soon became more than a hobby to me, it became my life. A life to essentially tell stories, some old, some new, and sometimes even devised ones with various groups of people.
Over Seven musicals, twenty-one plays, three street theatre performances and thirteen student, amateur and professional films later, I have successfully gained admission into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, based in New York City. An opportunity I would of never thought possible. However, the tuition for such a prestigious place, as well as living in the U.S is eye wateringly large. Even with a part time job, and tremendous support from family and friends, the target is astronomical. $50,000 a year(£33,000), for potentially three years. This is where you come in.
As I only have a minute left of your time I'll get to the point, and plead just a small donation towards my fundraising campaign "Concrete Jungle Book". Whether it's a penny or a number of pounds, your help will edge me closer to accomplishing my ultimate ambition, to become a professional actor.
I know this isn't a cause towards curing cancer, HIV, helping the homeless or those in a war torn city, so I can understand completely if you decide to switch off now. This is a cause that is a little more tangible, and on a much smaller scale.
I cannot let this opportunity pass me by; I thought it would be worth a try and ask the world (and the universe, if it's listening!) for a little help and see what it said back. For all I know it could turn around to me and say, "Bugger Off", which is fair enough. Or it could say "Yes", and the boy from Croydon could be transported to the concrete jungle, New York. It would certainly be the best story to tell the kids in my distant future. So, help me write those pages, and join me on the journey.
