Seth's India Trip

Hey Friends and Family!
This January I'll be heading over to India to volunteer in their school system.
Global Vision International (or GVI) is the organization I'm volunteering with. GVI has programs all around the world that focus on education, infrastructure, and animal conservation in third world countries. The program I picked is a 24-week (6 month) teaching position in India.
Kochi, India is where I'll be stationed for my duration there. It's a coastal city on the left side of the south tip of India (the map is a little more clear on location :P). Kochi is the 3rd most southern red dot on the map below. It's a major port and city in that part of the country.
My job there will be as a teacher's assistant. I'll be working with a range of students from kindergarten-aged to adult and with a diversity of educational backgrounds. I'm told that I will primarily be teaching english, but as the program goes on I might be needed in other departments of the school.
The program, unfortunately, is not paid for and actually costs a couple bucks to coordinate. As a college student, I'm not nearly as financially stable as I'd like to be. So I'd love any support I can get!
Also, I'd love any advice about living and traveling in India!
Or if you know of any good books about India or its culture, heritage, history etc, let me know! I want to immerse myself as much as possble before I get there.
Thanks for reading!
