Araella's Journey
A message from Araella and her mom, Joelle ...
On August 16, 2016, just one day before her freshman move in day at Waynesburg University, Araella was informed that she had breast cancer. The news completely derailed us and demanded that we begin to navigate this unexpected journey in the midst of a storm filled with shock, confusion and sadness.

The next few days were filled with ultrasounds, biopsies, MRIs, CT scans… By August 19 we were informed that the cancer is in Araella’s lymph nodes and is considered stage III.  Fortunately the imaging revealed that her bones and organs were not affected.

Somehow, Araella was strong enough to unpack her college dreams while seeing her friends off to college during a week of meetings with oncologists who laid out treatment plans that didn’t provide her with a peace about a healthy and healing journey.

After praying and hearing whispers from God through friends, Araella decided that she wanted to go to Cancer Treatment Center of America for another opinion. She dreamt about CTCA in Zion, IL and when insurance confirmed that was the best place for her to be treated, flights were booked and our journey took a turn. Although we are still in the storm and on an unexpected journey the forecast includes hope and the destination is complete healing and happiness.

Araella will be supported by a naturopathic doctor, and a dietician along with an oncologist and surgeon. She is going to be able to use a cold cap during her treatments with the hope of not losing her hair while also protecting her brain. The supplements and travel will make CTCA a more expensive way to cure this cancer that invaded my 18 year old's life, but the compassionate way that they are caring for her whole body makes it worth it.

Chemotherapy treatment began today and we are trusting completely in God to lead us out of this storm.  We are blessed to feel strengthened and sheltered in peace that passes understanding because of the prayers of so many.

A message from her team ...
This fund was set up by myself, Staci Hood-Neece, and Rhonda Stump from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania and Leslie Goodrum from Arizona.  Arealla holds a very special place in our hearts!
As warriors for our dear, sweet, beautiful Araella we are asking for continued prayers as she takes on this unexpected journey.  Araella and Joelle are asking us to keep in mind  Romans 12:12 as we continue to pray.  In addition to prayer, she and her family will need lots of love and support.  So many people have asked how they can help.  As you can imagine the expenses are astonomical.  They are in need of monetary donations.  The money will be used for her chemotherapy treatments, surgery, medications, transportation, and accomodations.  The money raised will ONLY be accessible to Araella and Joelle.  They will use the funds as they deem neccesary.  We are incredibly thankful for your donation!
