John Freymuth's Cancer Fund

John Freymuth, devoted father, grandfather, friend, has been undergoing chemotherapy for the last 6 months due to Pancreatic Cancer.   It all started last year around Christmas time when he told us he noticed his eyes and skin were yellow.  He was putting off going to a doctor at the time because he did not want  to upset or ruin his grandkids Christmas.  Upon seeing him on Christmas day the family pleaded with John to go to a doctor.  Again he did not want to upset the kids, but the kids got involved in telling him to go as soon as possible.   He agreed and that Monday he went down to the hospital, nervous, but he checked himself in.  Jaundice was confirmed and now tests were needed to find out what was the cause.  After an MRI it was found that a mass was choking off his bile duct which caused his Jaundice.  There was also another spot that was on one of kidneys, but John was told they are not worrying bout that one until he tackles the pancreas hurdle.
Not the word (mass) that any of us wanted to hear.   The first task was to put a stent into his bile duct to relieve the jaundice symptoms.  Two biopsies later it was confirmed what was feared.    Cancer.
Several consultations with  doctors it was decided that they would operate to remove the cancerous area.  The Whipple procedure was the path which was taken to do this.  It involves removing the head of his pancreas, part of the stomach, bile duct, and parts of the intestines.  We were told it would be a 7 hour operation.  Ultimately it took 13 hours to complete.  Recovery took a toll on John as it took 3 weeks to get him to  be able to come home.  What was a major concern was that he retrains his body to eat.  Something we take for granted, but it was a difficult task.  He needed to be able to build up his strength now to fight off the cancer with Chemotherapy.   After said and done, John was already out of work for 2 months prior to his chemotherapy, and was told by the oncologist, he will not be going back to work any time soon.  It was discussed that after the planned 6 months chemotherapy, he will have radiation treatments.  John was getting nervous about bills piling up while he was not getting an income.  John applied for disability but was waiting to hear of an answer while the mounting anxiety of losing everything he has was on his mind.  His daughter and son did as much as they could do to help financially,  and, spiritualy while waiting for disability to provide needed funds.   Disability was approved and a sigh of relief was made by the family.
Come August, John finds out that disability  and his Union insurance was cancelled.  Again the fear of bills piling up as chemotherapy is still going on as well as the upcoming radiation treatments and the operation to remove his kidney is taking a toll on John.  The actions of his insurance and disability getting cancelled, is forcing John to retire.  A process we are finding is going to take some time.
We are hoping that anyone can help John feel at ease by helping to provide some financial security.
In closing, John is a generous, father, grandfather.  He always put everyones needs before his own.  We believe he is most deserving of any help he can get at this time.
