Below is a description of the Lokoko Goat Project by David McCoy:

"Four hours out of Niamey (the Capital of Niger) is the village of Lokoko.  I toured this village in January with Yazi Adamou who earned his degree in the U.S. and then went back home to Niamey to help his people. In the spring we raised $1,500 which was enough for Yazi to purchase 34 goats for 17 women farmers.  The condition of their 1.5 acre garden was incredible. It consisted mostly of sand, but they were growing crops! The seventeen women sell and barter at the market as a cooperative. New goats born are given to the younger girls in the village to help them get started in management of their own two garden rows with their kid goats."

We can't wait to see everyone, and please feel free to get in touch if you should have any questions regarding this event.

Dear Farm Jam Friends,

Thank you all for an amazing night of music and contribution! We really did blow the roof off our goal of $2500 and I am humbled by your generosity. The funds we collected will be distributed via me to Calling all Crows and M3Reach Out, a non profit formed after my visit to Lokoko, Niger.

Each of the 17 women farmers of the village of Lokoko in Niger have three patches each to grow from in their garden. What food they grow, they sell & barter at the market many miles away. Goats will help to expand their business. Today, I learned that severe flooding has hit Niger. There aren't any reporters near Lokoko. I hope to hear from our Friend Yazi, soon. -Dave-
