Dreaming of Graduation

Donation protected
Hello
I am Alison, and I am a musician. Music is a very expensive and time consuming career, and is very difficult.

In June 2015, I completed a degree in the study of classical music, playing violin. Earlier in the same year I was also accepted to study a masters' degree in performance of Scottish music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, something I had been dreaming of for many many years. As my passion is in traditional music, this was a dream come true.
That dream has since slowly turned to something not so exciting.
Although I am in love with what I have and what I am doing, the degree costs are crippling. Each year has a fee of £7,500, for which no help is given. I have still £1,500 to pay from last semester, meaning that I now need to pay £9,000, an amount, that with no help, is impossible to pay, and upon which I still have to factor in my own living costs as well as basic instrument care costs. Although I will have a term time job, and also gig and busk as much as I can, it will not be possible to achieve this amount of money unless I work full time, which I cannot do as a student. If most of the fees are not paid before the end of September, I may not be able to complete the course.

Why should you help me?
I hear you ask.

Like so many others here, I am one of many students attempting to get through life and complete the dream course.
However, once my degree is complete, I intend to do something about the fact that education has become so unreachable. I strongly believe that education is something that should be available to anyone that wants, or needs it, but at the rate the world is moving, we will soon be back at an age where education is something only the elite have the privilege of; something that should be kept in the past.
Although I cannot do this alone, I know I can certainly start to make a difference, by attempting to make music education available to everyone. Music is one of the most expensive professions to get a good start in, with the best teachers charging extortionate amounts for lessons. This is good for those who have worked hard to become a great teacher and have done the expensive education, but for those without the money to pay for good teachers, or even any teacher, music becomes unreachable.

I want to make music reachable.

The most talented musicians of our age could remain hidden simply because the resources were too expensive for the average person to afford.

My dream of doing this degree, has now evolved into not just doing my dream, but helping others reach theirs. "People should not dream their lives, but live their dreams".
I am living my dream, and with some help, I can finish my current dream, and hopefully help others to live theirs, not only bringing myself joy in seeing this, but others as well.
