Ann's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On the night of August 26th, 41 year old, Ann Marie Francis and her 86 year old aunt, Thelma Belizaire, were viciously attacked with a bat in her own home. The attacker was Ann's 15 year old foster child, who immediately fled the scene leaving both women in very critical conditions. Through unimaginable pain and profusious bleeding from her head, Ann managed to get away from the attacker and went outside to call for help. She was tended to by her next door neighbor, who called law enforcement right away. Thankfully, the 15 year old foster son was found and taken into police custody. The motive is still unknown but the teen was well aware of his actions, showing little or no remorse for his wrongdoings. One cannot fathom why this boy would commit such a heinous act, especially to someone who took him in for a better life, but he will be charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding in connection with the beatings.

During the attack, the 15 year old broke Ann Marie's cheekbone, jaw, eye socket, both of her arms and both of her wrists. Ms Belizaire had a serious gash in her head, leaving her with multiple stitches but thankfully she is in a better state and out of critical condition. Doctors are still keeping her under close observation. As for Ann Marie, doctors must perform extensive surgery as well as multiple cosmetic procedures to reconstruct her face and fix the injuries that were brought upon her. We also run the risk of Ann losing her eye sight, but it is still early to definitively tell. It will take months of surgeries, healing, physical and emotional therapy but we have faith she will get through it all. If it wasnt by the grace of God and Ann's strong will to survive, she may not be with us today but we are beyond grateful to still have her with us and she is continuing to fight every day.

Ann is a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and great person in general and we are so thankful and blessed to have the healing hands of the medical team at VCU Medical Trauma Center in Virgina, as well as all the thoughts, kind words, prayers, and wonderful gestures from friends, neighbors, and family. We ask if you could find it in your hearts to help Ann, her husband Alfredo Thompson, and her children by donating here to help with medical expenses and etc. during this unfortunate, difficult time. Any amount will help and our family deeply appreciates any contributions that you're able to make. Please keep Ann Marie and her loved ones in your prayers as every day will be a continuous battle. Thank you, God bless, and let's continue supporting Ann during her road to recovery.
