Understanding Homelessness

This project is about understanding homelessness from the perspective of the homeless telling their own stories through their personal narrative and photographs.

I am a working journalist obsessed with telling the story of our generation through the voices of those often stripped of their power to be seen and heard.

This project is evolving and will be largely based on interviews conducted in September 2016 with hundreds of homeless individuals along the West Coast and may include a variety of mediums of exploration. The outcome of this project will include writing, artifacts, photography, and will be presented for those people and communities affected. This page will be updated as the project picture comes into sharper focus.

Everyone is welcome! This project welcomes people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of homelessness. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives, and ultimately, the world. We want to get out of the way and become a clearinghouse of free knowledge from inspired thinkers like you and become a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.
