In January 2016, I started having tinnitus. Tinnitus is a ringing or buzzing in your ears. This tinnitus has not gone away since January. Some days it's louder other days it's softer. Most of the time it's loud and hard to concentrate let alone relax.
In March I went to see a hearing doctor to have a look. They weren't able to tell me of anything we could do, and I was denied seeing a specialist as the funds would be expensive, and that it likely wouldn't be of any help.
In July 2016 when I saw my doctor for depression/anxiety issues, I mentioned the tinnitus in an offhand way, and he was shocked that nothing had been done. He immediately arranged for me to see this specialist and be retested.
The tinnitus is at 85% of my hearing ability and is considered hazardous to my health. My hearing was retested and is found to be just under the normal, ranging from 80-85% normal hearing. But the tinnitus makes it very hard to live a normal life.
The surgeon/specialist I spoke with is sending me to a tinnitus specialist named Sarah. But in the meantime wants to have me fitted for hearing aids.
I'm asking for help in raising the $3000. I am attending school and need hearing aids as soon as possible. Somehow in the next 2 weeks I need to be able to raise $1000 for the first payment if I want to take this in payments.
Any little bit would help. I will even, make sure to note how much each person has donated and repay every one of you as soon as I am able, even if it is only a dollar here or there. I'm in desperate need of this. It's difficult right now for me to choose which is more important this fall. I need a car to get around and drive four of us to college/work and I need hearing aids. I had to make a decision to use a small scholarship I'm getting for one or the other. My last hope is this gofundme page, hoping somehow I can do both. Rather than use the scholarship to help me hear, I'm using it to help 3 others and myself attend college 4-6 days each week (4 days one week, 6 days the next week).
