Britt Badgley Alamo Memorial Fund

Britt Badgley Alamo tragically died on Friday, August 26, 2016.  Britt, a beloved BUSD teacher, daughter, mother, and sister, leaves behind her husband, Steve Alamo, and 6-year-old daughter, Elsa.  Britt was committed to serving her community and family.  She worked tirelessly to champion the rights of teachers and supported the learning of thousands of Berkeley’s young people at Longfellow Middle School.  In addition, she cherished Steve and Elsa and her extended family.  Steve and Elsa need your help now.  They are faced with financial demands that cannot be meet without Britt’s salary. We are asking for a year of Britt’s Salary to help defray the immediate financial needs of the family and to begin to fund Elsa’s college fund.

 

Steve and Elsa are still reeling from their loss.  Elsa has been gathering all of the photos of Britt and cradles them in her arms.  Elsa starts school this week and Steve will return to work at Benchmark Pizza, but he is not able to cover all of the expenses of their home, living, insurance and burial.  The family would like to remain in their home to cherish the memory of Britt and to maintain routines for Elsa.  Of the funds raised the family will be reserving 25% to establish a college fund for Elsa, the remaining funds will be used to replace Britt’s salary and be used for living expenses – rent, food, and insurance.
