Running for Boston

Donation protected

A year and a half ago, I became a mother, and a few months ago, I began trying to make some healthy changes in my life. I wanted to model a healthy lifestyle for my little girl.  As part of these healthy changes, I signed up for my first 5K, The Baton Rouge Color Run.  Now, I would not call myself a runner.  I'm 5'2 and 195 lbs, which doesn't exactly make for flying around the track.  I've been a couch potato my whole life.  Healthy changes are in the works though, so a fun run like the Color Run seemed like a good choice.  I've been prepping, slowly but surely, though I'm still half-walking, and I've been excited about completing my first 5K.
Then the bombings in Boston happened: a tragic, cowardly act.  I saw lots of pictures, but one in particular really stuck with me.  It was an image of a crowd of people around an injured person and an empty stroller.  Now, I don't know what happened to the people in that photo; they might be okay.  But I haven't been able to stop thinking about all the parents; the parents of the survivors, the parents of those who have died, the parents who, themselves, lost their lives that day.  I look at my daughter and my husband and am thankful for my good fortune, and heartbroken for those who are grieving right now.
So this Saturday, April 20, I will be running in the Baton Rouge Color Run, and I am asking for your help.
Please help me make this run more meaningful by donating to the survivors and their families.  All money donated will be sent to The One Fund Boston, which has been set up by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to help those most affected by this tragic event.  Even if you can only donate a few bucks, every little bit will help.
