Baby Teddy's rehab+medical fund

Our little Teddy has come a long way.  The surgeon who did his first operation said he would not have made it if they had not detected the issue any later. I knew the moment he was born that something did not feel quite right. During the first three days of his life, I tried to to ask the doctors and nurses to check him again and again, and everyone thought I was exaggerating. Finally on the third day in hospital there  was finally a midwife who thought Theodore was indeed breathing strange. This was the beginning of a very long fight for life that Theodore is still traversing.

At first he was misdiagnosed as having laryngomalacia and finally after three months he was diagnosed as having congenital bilateral vocal cord paralysis by another surgeon. His vocal cords were in a semi closed position.

This is Teddy attached to his ventilator in the intensive care unit. His face and head were squeezed and his hands were attached because he would try to scratch at his face and tear the mask off. We spent many months like this in the intensive care unit.

We lost a lot of time and now after 7 months and 7 unsuccessful operations his last two operations were to tracheostomize him and give him a gtube button(button to feed through his stomache) we are still not out of the hospital.

His MRI scans have come back normal but all this time in the hospital has come with a heavy cost. At seven months Teddy still cannot hold his head up properly because he was attached to the ventilator for so long. He has a flattened head for the same reason and it needs to be corrected with a helmet costing up to 4-5000 euros that is not covered by insurance.

We also need a lot of other help to rehabilitate him to eat on his own and to catch up on his motor skill milestones.

A lot of friends and family have been asking how they could help. All this time I have asked for prayers. Prayers still remain the number one gift you can provide Theodore. They have been keeping us going through the many dark nights in the intensive care unit. But now that we are trying to help Theodore catch up, we realize that we do need some financial help for the long rehabilitation road ahead.

If we could have some help with at least the cost of the  helmet we would be eternally grateful for your kind help. If you can contribute only a dollar, well that's a dollar going towards helping Theodore become the strong, healthy, man we all know he can be, and it will be thanks to you.

This long journey has been made lighter thanks to all of you.
