I'm Steven.

I'm 28 years old and I have cystic fibrosis. CF is a genetic disorder that affects the lungs and digestive system. The average age expectation is only 35. My daily treatment takes up to 5 hours a day, and that's just to treat the symptoms:

My goal is to raise money and awareness for asthma and cystic fibrosis.I would like to raise 25.000 euro with your help
The money will be donated to the Climbing for life organization, and will be used to pay for scientific research and aid families in need.

Ik ben Steven.

Ik ben 28 jaar en ik heb mucoviscidose. Muco is een genetische ziekte die de longen en het spijsverteringsstelsel aantast. De gemiddelde levensverwachting van iemand met muco is 35 jaar. Dagelijks ben ik ongeveer 5 uur bezig met mijn behandeling.

Als muco patiënt zal ik in augustus de legendarische Col Du Galibier beklimmen voor het goede doel. Mijn bedoeling is om 25.000 euro in te zamelen en integraal te schenken aan de organisatie van Climbing For Life. Het geld zal gebruikt worden voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek en het helpen van families in nood.

What is cystic fibrosis?

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:
- clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections;
- and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
People with cystic fibrosis need daily expensive treatment to stay stable for as long as possible. Medical bills can build up to the thousands a month.
