Animal Relief Louisiana Flooding

My name is Daniela Habermehl and I currently live in Fort Myers, FL. Many of us who live in Florida, know we are just one natural disaster away from being in the same shoes as Louisiana is in currently. A little over a week ago tremendous downpours caused this devastational flooding. The red cross is saying it is the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy. After two feet of rain began falling Thursday night August 11th, water rose quickly in Baton Rouge and then migrated east and south. At least 40,000 homes have been damaged and the death toll has risen to 13. Friends, too often our companion animals are forgotten, run away, or are left behind during these type of tragic times. There are some incredible organizations and volunteers doing some important and difficult work in Louisiana right now. After feeling overwhelmed by the photos and stories I was researching I thought to myself that there has to be a way I can help. I reached out to Delta who I have a close working relationship with to do the nature of my career, and as I explained what I was trying to do they donated two round trip tickets to assist in the cost for this effort. My cousin Nikki is also a huge animal lover and activist like me so she was a perfect choice to join me on this mission. We will be flying to Louisiana on Wednesday 8/24 to assist in the Rescue efforts and animal care still taking place in the flooding areas. We are going to be volunteering with Brother wolf animal rescue and Livingston parish animal shelter. Many animals have not been reunited with their owners and rescue efforts are still underway. For those of you that know me personally I am a huge animal lover and advocate. My intention is to spread awareness and if you are able to donate anything it will all add up and help a great cause. Currently they are receiving food, blanket and other supply donations but the food will eventually run out and they will need funding to buy more. That is the purpose of this go fund me page. I would like to be able to deliver a donation that the Team housing all animals and caring for them can use for supplies down the road as this will be a long road to recovery for the animals as well as the thousands of residents that are currently displaced and are either living in shelters, tents, or hotels. If you prefer to give a cash donation and not donate virtually I will be accepting cash donations until Tuesday evening, none of these funds will be used for personal expenses any food or housing my cousin and I consume will be out of our own pocket.
