Barb, Babies & Uganda

Most of you are aware that Barbara Brna has visited Uganda twice before to donate her time and skills, working with the orphanage run by Watoto, whilst there she also set up a working cafe in 2016 for the women to be empowered to run this as an ongoing business to gain independence and financial security.

This year in May 2019 Barbara is taking Sue Husband, Anna Melich and her partner Danny to use their skills and time to help both the children and women in need. Anna and Danny will be helping the orphanage children with their schooling and sports programs, whilst Sue and Barbara will focus their time on further training the women in successfully running the cafe.

Last time with the help of family and friends we managed to raise enough money to help buy a van for the Special Needs Orphanage so they can be taken to hospital which has helped many children get the medical assistance they deserve.

This year we would like to raise money on a neighborhood program Keep a girl in School.

Women are the most marginalised people in Africa through abandonment, sex trafficking and HIV. With so many horrific injustices against them (for just being born a female) teenage girls drop out of school by embarrassment of not having the basic sanitary products, soaps and undergarments that we take for granted every month.

We are asking for your help again and together we hoping to raise enough money to keep 200 girls (or more) in school and regain their dignity so they can continue in school by meeting their essential needs.

As Oprah once said if you educate a girl you educate a nation.
