A trip to remember!

So where to start... My name is Emilio. I'd never thought the day would come where I would even consisder writing something like this, but unfortunately it seems I need to.

A little over 2 years ago my mum (Maria) was diagnosed with liver cancer. This news crushed my word, my mum is my world. Doctors found a tumor nearly the size of 2cm in her liver, they immediately booked her in for surgery. After the surgery, while in recovery we were told everything was successful and the cancer was removed. But in less then 12 hours mum was rushed back in for emergency surgery, we were told that she was bleeding internally. Mum being the amazing strong woman she is pulled through, but was taken to intensive care. Less than 8 hours had gone pass after the surgery and we were told that she, again was being taken in for emergency surgery, but this time we were given the scary talk of "be prepared for the worse". How does someone prepare themselves a moment like that. Mum fought hard and she made it through the surgery. She then spent the next 3 weeks in hospital recovering. After she was released she then went into 6 months of chemo.

After the chemo mum was in the all clear, she had beaten the cancer and it was the best news ever, we were so happy for mum to start living her life again.

In March this year we got news that the cancer had returned in her liver again. This was so devastating my poor mum was so heart broken, she had finally starting living her life again only to be back down this road again. So mum was booked in for her surgery and this time it went with no complications. We were so happy again!

On friday the the 12th of August, we found out that mums cancer had again returned to her liver. But this time the news was harder to take. We were told that she can no longer have any more surgeries, the risks are to high for something to go wrong and the cancer is to aggressive and will only return. Mum has been given the option of only chemo and an experimental drug, to which has not been used on liver cancers before. But this is only to stop the cancer from growing and spreading, but if the chemo and the drug do not stop the cancer from growing, they have no other option but to stop all treatments, which means that the cancer will spread.

Now I am posting this because mum said she wants to go on a holiday before any treatments start. We as a family would love to give her this wish. Mum moved from Italy over 25 years ago to Melbourne and has never been on any kind of holiday since. So she has never seen any of this beautiful country. We know she would love the gold coast as she has always said she wants to visit it. So we want to grant her this last wish and make it come true. And if this were to come true I would forever be grateful for anyone who has helped her get there! We know that once the treatment starts that she will no longer be able to go on a trip, and we as a family want to be there with her to make it a memory that we never forgot, for a mother who means the word to her kids and grandkids.  The money we are raising for her is to get mum and dad to queensland for a trip she they will not forget!

Thank you for giving me the chance to tell my story of my AMAZING mother who does not deserve to go through this terrible disease! I will be forever in your debt and grateful for everything  we raise for my beautiful mother!
