Our sweet Chloe Palethorpe lost all of her belongings tonight in an apartment fire. The fire started in the apartment next to hers and within minutes her apartment was engulfed in flames. She's lost everything. For those who know Chloe, you know how incredibly special she is. A high school special education teacher whose mission in life is to help others. She's a tireless volunteer, and advocate for those who are less fortunate, and a ray of sunshine to all who have the good fortune of knowing her. Please consider helping Chloe rebuild her life.

Hey, y'all. This is Chloe. I am currently going through and reading everything y'all have said to me here on the GoFundMe page. Over the past year, I have been blessed more than I could have ever imagined. Thank y'all for your generous support. I don't know what else to say except that I feel incredibly loved and blessed to have been able to continue to live my life comfortably, in part to your AMAZING monetary donations to me in the moment I needed it most.

Do you have a fire escape plan for your house?

If lightning strikes your house, a fire starts, and you're in the kitchen...or the bathroom....or the you know what to grab and where to go? What about the rest of your family?

As of a year ago, I have a fire escape plan for my house. I know what to grab (if it's safe to get to) it and where to go.

If I had been inside my apartment when it occurred, there is no telling what I would have done. Because I didn't have a plan. And that's why I do now. I now have a plan.

And get insurance. Homeowner's, renter's.....make sure it's enough to cover your belongings. I'll be honest, mine was the lowest required at my apartment complex.... Turns out that it basically covered the cost of my personal library and a few other things, haha. So, make sure your policy covers GENEROUSLY the dollar amount of items in your home. Everything from floss to couches. No joke. That's what my insurance lady told me when I was making my list of items after the fire. It all matters.

PLEASE sit down with your family and create a plan. Even your children need to know what to do. A candle could fall over, there could be a stove mishap, lightning could strike, or a number of other things. Have a plan for your pets, too. Know who will get what and where you will meet.

Please, make a plan.

If you want to read about my experiences, here is a series of blog posts I've written:…/12/every-day-is-special/

Please, make a plan.

Again, THANK YOU!!!!
Love, Chloe Palethorpe
