Bras not Bombs is a group created to collect, distribute and fundraise for underwear and deliver it to refugee camps.
Hi, I'm Caroline, founder of Bras not Bombs. This group started after I read a post about a young pregnant lady who had been rescued off a boat in Lesvos. A volunteer described her frustration at not being able to find an appropriate bra for her and that clean appropriate underwear was a real problem on the island. I then met a lady who volunteered in Turkey and told me horrific stories of very young girls who were now in camps but had been captured, tortured, raped and beaten daily. I was distraught. I needed to help. So it began, a facebook group was made, friends and volunteers invited to the group and I asked for people to send me bras and knickers.We have now sent out a few thousand bras and other underwear via vans and containers to Greece, Turkey, Syria and Dunkirk....but we need to do more. Today we will start selling Bras not Bombs T- shirts, hoodies, vests, mugs as part of our campaign to raise money to buy in the countries we are trying to help. We need to buy correct sizes for people stuck in the camps and work more logistically.
