Kendal's continued brain surgeries!

Donation protected
My 13-year-old granddaughter Kendal Hudson-Lane’s world has totally been changed over the last year. She went from a straight A competitive cheerleader, to a weak and fragile young lady bound to a neck brace and a wheelchair at times. She has been unable to attend school and has had to be homebound schooled and usually only leaves the house for physical therapy or hospital/doctor visits. Kendal has Chiari I malformation and Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome (EDS). She has cervical instability which means her spine is pressing on her brain stem.

The closest neurosurgeon that specializes in cases like hers is Dr. Greenfield in New York City. He and his partner will be operating on Kendal on OCTOBER 26th. This procedure is cervical fusion and decompression surgery. This is a very dangerous and delicate surgery that is located at the base of the brain, but it is needed to release pressure from her brain stem which will help with the crippling neurological symptoms.

Kendal has a wonderful support system. Her mom, Amber Lane who is a hospice nurse and had to research to diagnose her since no local doctors were able to properly diagnose her. As many of you know, hospice nurses are there for patients and their families in their darkest hours. She serves Northeast North Carolina including Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Edenton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, and Chowan counties.

Her Dad, Mike Lane is an EMT and volunteer firefighter that has given a lot of his time to the community as a coach and referee. Kendal also has a wonderful 6-year-old brother who has watched his sister decline and often says he just wants his Sissy back normal.

There are many expenses that come with Kendal’s scheduled spinal surgery that is scheduled for October 26th. Kendal and her parents will have to stay in NYC for around 3 or more weeks, and she may not be allowed to ride via car after the surgery due risk post operation damage. A flight home may be necessary.

Your donation will support Kendal during this major surgery by keeping the family with her. How could any parent function and work a normal day while their child was 400 miles away having major life altering cervical spinal surgery? Thank you for any support you can offer, be it a donation or simply sharing this fund raiser. Updates on Kendal’s condition will be posted.
