Holistic Empowerment Resources (H.E.R) is a newly developed nonprofit that was created to nurture physical, mental and spiritual wellness in order to positively impact health and create stability.
Four years previously, co-founders Kristin Thompson (LMSW, pending LCSW) and Jessica Brischke (BS, Certified Yoga Instructor) identified a need for preventative services for women in the tri county area (Comal, Hays, and Guadalupe). Typical of most small communities, resources were limited for women that were needing supportive services. So, HER was created in January of 2016. HER’s programmatic design was created to implement services BEFORE women found themselves in crisis, as a means of providing cost-effective care to the clients that are enrolled into the HER preventative program. HER’s goal is to be able to help women develop needed skills and provide them with the support that they need in order to obtain self-sufficiency.
With a combination of 20 years plus of service to our communities, Ms. Thompson and Mrs. Brischke show dedication in being agents of change with the clients in which they work with. By combining previous work experience and continuing education/training, a diverse skill set have been developed and will continue to grow. They display passion, integrity and an innovative approach to wellness for women.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE:
• HER became recognized and filed as a nonprofit by Secretary of State.
• Board of Directors established and actively involved in making fiscal and programmatic decisions (to include a Ph.D Marriage/Family therapist, President and Community Member, Secretary)
• By-Laws and job descriptions created and approved by Board of Director.
• Programmatic flow chart and timeline of services created and approved by the Board of Directors.
• Logo created (by a local women currently studying Marketing) and marketing items created to raise awareness about services available
• Three psychosocial workshops designed and implemented to the community.
• On-going education/licensure being pursued by co-founders (Thompson-pending clinical LCSW licensure, Brischke-pending Trauma Informed certification).
WHAT WE NEED GOFUNDME FOR (Goal of $1,000):
• To finance filing of EIN number
• To obtain funds for Application of 501C(3) status
• Overhead costs to roll out services on 01/2017
• Create HER website
Upon initial start-up of HER, financial security can be sustained through fund raising events, grant writing donations, and billing insurance companies for services provided. HER has been a labor of love!! Your financial contributions and support are greatly appreciated.
