Coffelt Family - Baton Rouge Flood

Many of y'all have seen the news and Facebook posts of the flooding that happened in Baton Rouge over the weekend of August 12, 2016. Close friends that I consider family, Matt and Laura Coffelt and their 2 beautiful children, Cooper (3y) and Piper (11m), are yet another family affected by this unprecedented and devastating natural disaster. While Matt and fellow neighbors were attempting to rescue other people already stranded at the beginning of the flooding, Laura stayed back watching the waters rise at their own home. Eventually, their house also took on 3-4ft of water and they too had to be rescued. It is hard to comprehend the damage that a flood causes especially once it enters your home. Anything and everything that water touches is ruined and contaminated - drywall, appliances, electrical wiring in the house, carpet and flooring, furniture, cabinets, the list goes on and on, leaving you with a shell of a house, gutted and empty. Matt and Laura are down to one income and no daycare for their children because those businesses have also flooded. So many families have been affected in this way, and many of them did not have flood insurance. As the news reported, this was a 1 in 500 year flood and no one was "prepared" for it. We've taken it upon ourselves to start this GoFundMe to try and raise anything that can help The Coffelt's..they have already survived this flood but will need any extra help to keep them from drowning financially and to start rebuilding and refurbishing their home.
