I was first diagnosed with Stage 4c cancer in October of 2014. I was admitted to the hospital because I was in complete renal failure. They placed tubes in my back to drain my kidneys which the tubes remained for the following six months. I immediately went into treatment. Chemotherapy and radiation for 5 weeks. Radiation 5 days a week and chemo once a week. Once the chemotherapy and radiation was finished I went to Portland for 5 more treatments of internal radiation. The goal was for a cure. In July of 2015 I was starting to feel like I would recover. I was able to get the tubes out of my back and have internal stents placed. By the winter I was able to have the stents removed. During one of my scans they found some spots in my lungs which were very small. The oncologist was hoping it was Valley Fever. They would continue to monitor me. By December I started to feel ill again and had biopsied of my cervix and colon finding no cancer. But by May 2016 the cancer was back and had spread to the lungs, stomach, liver, cervix, and lymph nodes. I had to have the stents placed back in my kidneys and went immediately back into treatment.

I now have currently one more treatment but the chemo is killing me. One of the drugs that I was going to stay on to prevent the cancer from spreading gave me a blood clot that travelled to my spleen and killed a portion of it. Now I can no longer take this medicine and the oncologist is searching for alternatives. My prognosis is terminal, I will have to take chemo for the rest of my life or until it does not work anymore and this is no way to live. It is completely miserable and it is hard to find any enjoyment during the course of the day.

I am hoping to raise enough money to seek alternative treatment, treatment that does not kill me in the process. Of course we are hoping for a miracle but I hope I can just have some quality of life with my children for a little while longer. I feel like I have to try for them to try to be there for at least my younger children until they can become their own person instead of just my children.

I have researched several clinics in Mexico that have had success with natural healing and alternative methods to treat cancer that are not currently available here in the U.S. I am hoping with your help I can raise the funds to pursue this venture in prolonging my life.

In addition to battling for my life our landlord has decided to force us out of our home. We plan to pursue this matter legally but the toll it has taken on my health is detrimental and just plain exhausting. So now on top of our mounding medical bills and trying to find some hope for our future, we are looking for a new home. We are in desperate need of your help.

My name is Toby and I am the husband of Michelle and the father to our four wonderful children Nick 26, Jake 20, Olivia 14 and Ayden 10. We have been married for 18 years and together for 21 years. My wife loves being a mom. She would do anything for her children and does. We are a close family and truly would just love all of our children to live with us forever.

My main source of income over the last 15 years has come from being an independent contractor for Data and Telecom companies as an install technician. The work I preform takes me all over the country and for at least the last 13 years has been our main source of income. The last quarter of the year is usually slow for the private companies I work for, but the pay is good and usually with smart budgeting gets us through the whole year. Regardless of being able to relax for a few months after working 7 days a week 10 hour days for sometimes months on end I would always fall back to my original career as a carpenter. Now that my wife has been battling cancer for 2 years our income has dwindled.  I went from a high 5/ low 6 figure income to a low 5 figure income cutting our total by nearly 75% add to this the cycle of the industry hiring contractors, which slowed about a year before we found out about the cancer, we have hit the wall. Regardless of our insurance, which so far is good, our expenses have increased due to the things not covered. Our savings is gone and we sometimes have to reach out to family and friends in order to make our monthly expenses. I am a traditional father and not being able to provide the basics without occasionally borrowing money has been rough on us as a family.

At the age of 46 I never expected to hear that my wife at 44 has stage 4c cervical cancer and less than 2 years later be told of the reoccurrence with a terminal outcome. The first round of therapy included radiation, Chemo and Brachy therapy (internal radiation) and had a great result. No more cancer mass cutting off the ureter (which is how we found out even with regular gynecological checkups , which blocked the kidney and forced her to where an external bag to collect her urine during the first round, no more lymphoid cancer and no more cervical polyps. Our reprieve from cancer was nice, but short lived and full of all the extra doctoring that is a result of the intense therapies. Michelle’s internal radiation/ Brachy Therapy damaged her other ureter, but luckily she was able to have stints put in and removed only to have them put in again. The external collection bag or the pick line to administer the chemo and I.V.’s gave Michelle mrsa infection so tubes sticking out of her body are the last thing we need, but the damage will also determine that.  Stints are working now, but dead blood cells clog the stints quicker and calls for the replacement procedure to happen about every 6 weeks rather than 12 weeks which is normal. Round 2 has lasted for 3 months and is chemo only because our bodies can take so much radiation. Michelle has a port rather than a pick line this time. The port was place into her chest wall which decreases the chances of infection exponentially. Her stints are working and might get removed within 6 weeks or sometime during October of this year.

Terminal cancer for us does not have an end date at this point, but it will and could be sooner than later. I see the fear of this fact in my children’s eyes every day. This is why we are asking for help to seek treatments that can prolong Michelle’s life. Her goal is to watch the “youngest 2 grow to adulthood.”. Those words flow from her lips everyday no matter the state she is in during chemotherapy. Personally I want the miracle, but any extra time will be cherished. My children need this as well. Please consider funding our goal of raising money to seek alternative options. My Wife’s proclaimed death sentence might be able to be avoided because of your generosity so I thank you in advance for that.
