Dear Friends and Family,

No one starts out their life thinking that their dreams are not going to come true. We don’t plan for failure or sickness and all the bad that life may throw at us. Our reality because of my particular set of challenges, has been news that it was impossible to have children.

I know there are so many causes these days on GoFundMe and other types of sites, that are worthy of fundraising, but  I’m hoping you will take the time to read about our story and journey.

I have had extensive health issues, with the most intense health troubles arising over the last few years. However, recently, after lots of hard work and a few miracles, my body and health have made a drastic improvement. We were excited that this meant possibly carrying our own children, however after meeting with the lead Dr. in High Risk pregnancies, it became clear  that my body would never be able to go through this trauma without leaving me unable to care for a child much less myself. We were heart-broken and believed that we were just not going to realize this part of our dreams after all.

After picking myself up and discussing with Chris some other options, we began doing intense research on adoption. I even started an at home business, CupeeCake to help raise funds. We were excited over this possibility. Yet, over and over our hearts took a beating as we found out  adoption options were not available to us.

I began to think and pray about Surrogacy, but knew that we could never afford going through an agency that charges upwards of $100,000. We hoped that we would be approached by someone willing to help us through this process. Someone we knew and that would ask us, not the other way around. Low and behold in April such a friend contacted me about wanting to help us bring a family into this world. We were blown away, and a little scared as we have been down the road with hope in our heart, just to see it slip away. We both weren’t sure we could do this yet again. I knew that there would be several challenges we had to face and conquer to make this a reality.

Some of the challenges required my heart to be much better than it was a year ago, check it was. Second, was my diabetes had to be in good control, check it is. Third, I needed to be creating my own eggs, check just call me a chicken!!! We had a heart breaking set back in September that almost brought this journey to a close. Amazingly a new opportunity through OHSU has opened up, the door we thought was closed. We are once again on this crazy rollercoaster. We have several other small hurdles to get over, but amazingly every door has been opening once again.

Here is what we need to make our dreams happen; We need to raise funds for legal fees, the implanting process and misc. other things that are coming up. We have used the money we had saved up from CupeeCake. OHSU so far has required payment up front, so it has become imperative that we move forward with fundraising We’re hoping to raise around $25,000. So we decided we’d give this a try. We will also continue to do other fundraising ideas.

Thank you for your support and please follow along in our journey as we update our Go Fund Me! We love all of your encouragement and well wishes as we have travelled this crazy road. I appreciate all the women who have reached out to me with stories of their hard fought journeys, and for those still traveling I pray for you and want to offer hope when it looks the darkest. We know the best days are yet to come!!
