ABOUT ME
Natalia del Rio, 25, is a Mexican American photographer who is cycling the world in pursuit of the expansion and completion of her project, FULL DISCLOTHESURE. Her body of work, literally and metaphorically, focuses on truth/authenticity to oneself through the naked human body. Working on ways to de-sexualize the bare form, she photographs bodyscapes in bathrooms around the world.




FULL DISCLOSURE ON FULL DISCLOTHESURE
FULL DISCLOTHESURE is a photographic journey Natalia del Rio has embarked on in discovering cultural and individual acceptance surrounding body image.  Regardless of our ethnicity, gender, race, creed, color or sexual orientation, every human bares their own personal trials and tribulations concerning body image.

Montaigne, a 16th century French philosopher, dedicated his life and body of work to self exploration and truth. He encouraged being truthful to self and consequently, to the world. His philosophy concluded that in order for one to be truthful to oneself and others, one would have to, literally and metaphorically, reveal themselves naked to the world.

Why are we so often ashamed of the only thing that is rightfully ours; our bodies?

Possibly the most valuable and beautiful expression of self we own, yet we are embarrassed to show ourselves bare. How does culture shape our view of body image and sexuality around the globe? How do these cultural and societal norms shape or scar us differently? Are we all suffering our own silent battles, fighting negative self images that can only be show to the light while alone in the bathroom? Or, are we given different impossible norms that break us the same? What causes so many to ignore, hide, or be ashamed of their truth?

FULL DISCLOTHESURE seeks to explore these universal questions within the intimacy and confines of the bathroom: the most intimate and private space where we reveal to ourselves our most vulnerable truths, our bodies. del Rio began this journey cycling through different countries in search of natives to photograph in their most vulnerable environment, their bathroom. In highlighting the variety of ways the intimate space of the bathroom is used, each take on a character of their own. They set a tone, and like a confessional, invite you in to reveal your truth.

By way of cycling to continue this project, del Rio seeks to bring awareness to mental health issues linked to body image perception. The goal is simple- yet extensive. Cycle around the globe and photograph at least one person from each country in their bathroom. Shedding light on the correlation between self-love and mental health, FULL DISCLOTHESURE seeks to bring awareness to the impact society has on the general mental health of its citizens.





WHY FULL DISCLOTHESURE NEEDS FUNDING
I have been funding this project out of pocket since its birth, five years ago. It is now, after having travelled to twenty countries and having captured over eighty people that the project has a robust portfolio and has become more established on its goals and direction, that I am in need of the proper funding to continue the production of FULL DISCLOTHESURE.
There will be a photobook made after the Americas Tour of FULL DISCLOTHESURE is finished.

I would not only like to pay my models, but now since I am heading further south into the American continent, I see the need to help out the local people, and willing participants will not only be compensated for participating, but will also be helped in building a working bathroom where they are able to have their privacy (which will be coming out of my own room and board that I am asking for.)

Breakdown:

$50 USD (In need of at least one Male and one Female model per country)

$100 per country
Passing through 21 countries @ $100 USD minimum
In need of variety of bodies, estimated 80 participants = $4,000 USD
