Hello Everyone,
Thank you for taking time to read my story. So if you are someone who has ever met me you could probably tell I have a poor eye sight. Truth be told, I was born and still am blind. I know I have vision but by the numbers alone I am legally blind. I was born with a condition known as Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. That means that the nerve from the back of my eye to my brain that sends the signal is underdeveloped.
A person with perfect vision sees 20/20 when my vision is 20/200. That means what I can see with my true vision at 20 feet a regular person can see it from 200. Crazy I know, Right?
Like most people you learn to live with what you are given and adapt. When I would get teased or frusterated about my vision my mother would say to me "You know things could be worse, you could be completely blind. So cherrish what little sight you do have" and that would cheer me up. Now after having Parker I have fears that if he were to run into a crowd of people I would not be able to see him and that terrifies me.
So I started doing research and found a procedure that uses my own Stem Cells to help grow my optic nerve. It is done in Florida and is safe and has shown improvement for people with ONH. Since my optic nerves are healthy but just underdeveloped I have a great chance in seeing segnificant improvements. The procedure is being overlooked by the FDA as well as many other organizations and information can be found at www.clinicaltrials.gov

Since the procedure is not yet approved by the FDA it is not covered by insurance. The goal i am trying to reach would cover the cost of the procedure and my hospital stay for 8 days.
