Able Center Community Project

At the Able Center we aim to provide our students with authentic and meaningful opportunities to practice important job and life skills within our community. We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando to provide homemade treats and toys to the animals at the shelter. This project will allow our students to practice budgeting, shopping, organizing, cooking and packaging among many other skills. Once our items are complete the students will deliver them and visit the pets.  We are grateful to the Pet Alliance for providing us with this opportunity and we are eager to get started.  To get this project up and running we are asking for material or monetary donations to collect the supplies necessary to make the special goodies for the animals.  Here are a few things that we need:

 

Dowel rods
Water bottles
Shoeboxes
Paper towel rolls
Fleece Material
Yarn
Feathers
Snack size zip locks
Flax Seed
Fresh Fruit (apples, bananas, strawberries)
Cans of cat food
Cat nip
Natural Peanut Butter
Canned Pumpkin
Sweet Potatoes
Oats
Honey

By contributing to this project you will not only be helping needy pets in our community but you will be giving our students a valuable opportunity to gain vital skills while being contributing members in our community.
