Amy Faulk's Service Dog Training

Thank you for helping raise funds for a service dog to help Amy Faulk.
Amy is a 34 year old with a genetic blood clotting disorder and lymphedema. She had her first clot at age 16 and her first stroke at age 25. She continues to have mobility issues, and challenges with depth perception and memory.
Amy recently lost her therapy cat, Charlie, to a brain tumor.
Amy's doctors say she needs a therapy dog to be trained specifically for her medical needs. The service dog will be trained to:
-be a companion
-retrieve dropped items to minimize falls
-pull emergency cords in Amy's apartment in the case of a fall or stroke
-alert Amy of tripping hazards
-bark to alert others if a stroke or fall occurs in public
-allow Amy to remain independent and live on her own
A Standard Poodle puppy has been chosen from a litter bred by Shiela Thomas of Coplar Creek Kennels. Shiela has a strong history of breeding quality service dogs. The puppy was selected specifically for Amy by trainer Krystal Ellingson of Speak Dog; Krystal is certified by Service Animal Registery of America and will personally train Amy's service dog .
This fund will support the purchase of the service dog, the 10 months of intensive training, trainer evaluation, veterinarian costs, and service dog certifications.
On behalf of Amy's family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Amy is a sweet, wonderful, loving daughter and friend. Amy is permanently disabled and on Social Security disability, but Medicare does not cover any costs of a service dog. This service dog will allow Amy to participate in our community, build her self-confidence, and live independently.
