Torey's Fight Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Torey Smith is 25 years young and full of life. She walks into a room and brightens the whole place with her beautiful smile and spunky personality. She has never met a stranger and always has an open mind about the world. Torey is a full-time student at the University of Central Missouri, with only one year left to go to obtain her Master's of Occupational Safety Management.

Three weeks ago, my sister pulled my mom aside. She was concerned of a lump on her right breast, that appeared out of nowhere. My mom, being a mammography tech, immediately started to worry. She knew that what appeared to be a big mass on my sister was something that would need to be addressed as soon as possible.

On July 27th, 2016, Torey had an ultrasound and mammogram, that confirmed that a biopsy was required.

On July 29th, 2016, Torey recieved the devastating news that, yes indeed, she did have breast cancer. She was diagnosed with IDC (invasive ductile carcinoma), stage 2.

Torey has undergone genetic testing and is scheduled for a double mastectomy on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. What treatments are to come will be determined once she speaks with her oncologist following her surgery. Because of her age, fertilization preservation is highly possible.

First and foremost, prayers are number one on our lists of needs right now. However, any donations would help ease the financial burden placed upon my sister at this time. Because Torey is 25, and is turning 26 in November, her insurance will be over, leaving her with no coverage for her medical care.

Thank you all very much in advance for the prayers and any relief to the financial situation my sister would be in.

Please share this with others as my sister and family are dealing with this life changing event. Thank you to everyone for the support. Updates of Torey's battle against cancer will be provided along the way.
