Friends of the Peninsula Trees

Donation protected
Friends of the Peninsula Trees is raising funds to hire an independent arborist, and an independent biologist (unaffiliated with the city of San Diego or a tree cutting company) to generate an assessment of the health of Esperanza, the endangered Torrey Pines Heritage Tree in Ocean Beach on Saratoga Avenue that the city of San Diego is determined to cut down. Community members created the Friends of Peninsula Trees as a conservation effort to save Esperanza. Atlas tree removal services attempted to remove the tree a week ago on August 4, and the work was halted only after community members stood their ground and a woman climbed the tree. We are working to save this beautiful tree that is an integral member of our Point Loma/Ocean Beach community. We would like to asses the safety of this tree. We desire open communication and transparency with our city. Until then we are asking for your help so that we may work together to save this beautiful tree.
