Davina's Trip to the Vet

Hello everyone!

My name is Andrew and I work/live in the NG Lands in WA. On Monday afternoon, I received a message that a dog had been attacked with a machette. My neighbour had attended to the dog and had taken some photos. When he showed me, my heart sank. It was the same dog that I found, along with her brother, last year as a puppy. I reguarly feed and give water to all the local camp dogs and I have grown quiet fond of them. However, this one I have always been attached too the most.

As you can see, her leg has been hacked at and has gone through the tendon and half way through the bone. Her side has about a 1inch wound. I have been told by a few of the staff that the leg will have to come off, since it has gone through the bone. Finally got her into the house so she could be treated. With her wounds bandaged up, she started to eat and drink, which has been a huge sigh of relief for us. I have called Alice Springs Vet, and I have explained the situation. My options were to surrender her and they will do their "best" to help her, or foot the bill. I got the feeling the surrending option was they will just put her down.

So I have decided that we will go the whole way with her. I can't just let her die with a good chance of survival. Amputation and vet bills however are never cheap, so I have decided to ask for some help! $5000 is what I think should be enough. If this is more than she needs, I will donate the rest to a local dog rescue that deals with camp dogs.
