Sometimes your life can change in an instant. For my wife and I, THIS was our instant. While grinding a trailer hitch adapter in my basement, I unknowingly ignited a flash fire. The result was a total structural loss of our house.
I burned 10-12% of my skin, mostly 2nd degree, but some 3rd degree. Without a doubt I will be fine, I'll need skin grafts (I've had 5) and some time (maybe a year?). First surgery was 8-9-16 on my hand, and the second one was 8-11-16 on my right calf, elbow, shoulder and scalp. I am frustrated and anxious about sitting in this cab with the meter running, I would rather be on the outside helping my family deal with this tragedy.
Jean on the other hand, needs all the support she can get as she is handling the remains of our house and figuring out what we do tomorrow and beyond.
Jean and I want... to thank everyone who is helping us out. Many hands make light work. I want to thank the firefighters for their efforts. I have already met so many dedicated, talented and overall awesome healthcare people. They are such a huge part of my recovery & treatment. I'm focusing on healing and dealing with everything else one-day-at-a-time. Peace to you and your family, Tim
