Law Enforcement Memorial Park
The centerpiece of this Memorial Park will have a life size bronze police officer in the form of a Steuben County Deputy Sheriff attending to a call for service. This statue, which will stand guard over the Steuben County Public Safety Building for eternity, will be placed in the center of a concrete raised pedestal formed in the shape of Steuben County and all (6) adjoining counties in the State of New York.
On May 21, 2016, the official ground breaking ceremony took place to begin work on this Memorial Park through the generous donations of the citizens of the (7) counties and businesses located therein. The targeted date of completion will be May of 2018 for the final dedication ceremony.
Below is a local artist’s rendition of this Memorial Park as it will appear once the construction efforts are completed. As well as the law enforcement memorial plaque dedication to this site in 2015, the future plans for the memorial park include a “thin blue line” waterfall monument that will be outlined by the bronze Deputy Sheriff statue. Lighting at night will cast the shadow of the statue onto the waterfall memorial for those traveling by the Steuben County Public Safety Building as a reminder of the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe.
