I’m sure everyone relates that life can be unpredictable and knock you off your feet. Certain circumstances change your whole world in the blink of an eye. This has been the case for someone our family holds close to the heart. Israel (Izzy) is a loving, intelligent and humorous young man whose spirit brings light to every place it comes across. His laugh is contagious and his heart is warm. On July 7th, the unexpected happened. Israel was taken to the hospital after having his second seizure. Through a CT scan, a golf ball sized tumor on the right side of his brain was uncovered.
Without delay, the doctors promptly advised surgery to have the mass removed. Thankfully, Izzy tolerated surgery well and was discharged from the hospital later on in the week. Two weeks later, he ended up having another seizure; the doctors decided to prescribe a higher dose of the medication he’s taking for his seizures.
After fervently praying and hoping for the best, this past week, Izzy finally got the results of his biopsy. He was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Due to the aggressive nature of this cancer, he is scheduled to have radiation 5 times a week for 6 weeks and has another appointment set up to discuss chemo.
It’s true what they say - when it rains, it pours. He also got some other unfortunate news this week. He is losing his job because the company he works for is doing away with his department. Not only will he no longer have an income, he will also be losing his health insurance.
Despite all of this news, Izzy is still in good spirits. His faith in God is unshakeable and he takes solace in that. As people who care for Israel dearly, with his permission and blessing, we have decided to start a fundraiser for him. We are asking for your generosity during this difficult time, whether it is through monetary contribution and/or prayers.
