Mobilize Me!

Lightening fast response from The Etherial Space Goo!! I have been accepted into the HIGHLY RATED Low Res MFA Program at Pacific University! I will be starting June 20th! I have also found a way to get 300 bucks off the the original cost!

I am stoked that I am going back to school, but my knees are freaking out! I need a mobility scooter, and my insurance won't cover it. The MFA Creative Writing program I will be attending is at PACIFIC UNIVERSITY, which means I will go to the Forest Grove campus in June, Seaside in December, and the same the following year. It is a requirement that we reside at these locations and while ADA approved, I will still need to get around! My knees can no longer handle daily walking on someone else's terms like that.

I have asked a lot from my knees over the years, playing sports since I was old enough to walk, dancing through the disco years, fundraising in drag in the 90's, and that last doozy of a fall in 2001 that tore my ACL and messed them up for good. Now it's time for me to give back. 


Here is where I need your help. I need to purchase a lightweight, folding, portable mobility scooter that will allow me to get from point A to point B quickly and reliably. This is the only mobility scooter that will handle my weight and that I can lift and carry. It is called a Travelscoot. Can't you just see me on this?




Going back to school is the catalyst, but not the only reason I am asking for your help to mobilize me! With this little scooter, I will be able to go shopping by myself and get to Dr's appointments and the pool on my own again. I will be able to get around campus by myself, walk my dog, and actually browse at Powell's Books! I spent 22 years working with homeless and disenfranchised youth, and once I graduate, I plan to teach writing to underserved populations, and the scooter will allow me the mobility freedom I need to do that.
