Eviction Emergency

Donation protected

Hi all,

First and foremost, I'd like to thank you for clicking on this campaign.

Our names are Joscelyn Maldonado and Xavier Valtierra. As mentioned in the campaign title, this fundraiser is to prevent our eviction. We have just received our eviction notice in the mail and will be appearing in court on July 29, 2019 to address this issue.

As some of you know, I, Joscelyn Maldonado have struggled with mental illness for quite some time. In the most recent months, I lost my job in child protection due to the stress of the job which magnified all the symptoms of my mental illnesses. Though I tried my best to continue working, I was unable to sustain my employment as my depression and anxiety worsened.

Being unable to continue working at my absolute dream job has been truly devastating to my state of mind and mental health. Though I feel guilty for not being able to "make it" in the field of child protection and for failing all my clients, I also understand that I cannot help others if I don't help myself first and foremost. For the first time in my life, I have sought out help for my mental illnesses and have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I have also begun mental health treatment for my mental illnesses and intend to continue this for as long as necessary for my mental health and stability.

Xavier has recently began working full time and I, Joscelyn, am in the process of finding a new job.  We are both receiving mental health treatment to help with our overall stability. Luckily, our mental health treatment is going well and we are prepared to work consistently again.  Though that is the case, we will not be able to come up with the money quick enough to prevent eviction so we are sincerely asking for any help you can give.

As for the details regarding the amount, our monthly rent is $1550. We are currently behind on two months of rent, which amounts to $3,100. We are also being charged a late fee, as well as attorney and court fees, which, in total, amount to approximately $200 per month.

We are in need of these funds by 7/29/2019, which is the date of our court hearing.

It breaks our hearts to have to have to ask for help, as we are both incredibly private people who have the tendency to struggle in silence but we have realized that we cannot get past this hurdle on our own. Please understand that this is an emergency and we would not be reaching out if we had other options.

If you can afford to donate, Xavier and I will be eternally grateful for any amount at all. If you cannot donate, we would greatly appreciate if you would share our fundraiser link on your social media or with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Love,
Joscelyn & Xavier
