Slip's Magic Eye Fund

Terry Slifer is an amazing guy.  He is a free spirited, supportive, loving friend and human.  Many of you know him as a cycling coach and training partner.  He has  provided mentorship and development in the cycling community of Charlotte, and nationally with DivaCycling Camp.  He empowers people through knowledge, support and kindness.  

Recently he quit the daily grind in pursuit of entreprenurship.  His leap into the small business world was as ''all in'' as his mountain bike shredding.  Unfortunately, this short window without insurance coverage was imperfectly timed with... yesterday.

Slip had months of training in for this weekend and the hard parts of the race were over.  He was in the midst of decending beautiful appalacian trail as he made his way toward a likely podium finish, when his bike washed out from under him.  A gnarly treestump caught his fall...caught his face...

Several friends passed Slip in the woods, he fooled them all "I'm fine! Keep going!"  Eventually EMS caught on, and sent a rescue team in to find our pal, down in the woods.  They carried him out, 2 miles, and airlifted him to Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.  

The trauma team thankfully cleared his spine, and his brain. He will walk and joke and coach again.  Unfortunately, he sustained several broken bones in his face, and his left eye was mangled.  Slip endured 3 hours of surgery to try and save his sight; to no avail.

So now begins the road to recovery: medications and surgeries wait in his future.  So let's help get our friend back on his feet, back on the saddle and back to inspiring others.  

Your donation will go to paying for Slip being airlifted out of Pisgah Forest, his first of many surgeries, his medications, his stay in the hospital, and his many physician appointments.
